Lady Vols look to take down Team USA

Knoxville, Tenn.- The No. 1 Tennessee Lady Vols host the United States National Team Sunday afternoon in their first game since winning the 2007 National Championship.

WNBA veterans Lisa Leslie, Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi headline the U.S. National Team that is currenlty on a collegiate tour across the country. The U.S. National Team has made two collegiate tours in the past, one in 1995-1996 and one in 1999-2000 and compiled a 31-1 record, the only loss coming to Tennessee in 1999 by a 65-64 score.

Tennessee's All-American Candace Parker played with the U.S. National Team overseas as they won the right to play in the 2008 Summer Olympics.

Tennessee is playing its first game in the newly renovated Thompson-Boling arena and Lady Vols fans have come out in large numbers to show their support. Former Lady Vol Kara Lawson is starting for the U.S. National Team and just received a warm return home.
