Cal is doing everything right, Vandy isn't

BERKELEY, Calif - The halflime entertainment here at Cal is four modern dancers led by a guy with a red mohawk - only in Berkeley :).

But in the first half, the entertainment were the Golden Bears, as they hold a 36-19 lead in the half.

Cal's Natashia Vital drove to the hoop and passed to Senegal's Rama N'diaye for a bucket at the horn to cap an impressive opening 20 minutes.

D'diaye is leading all scores with 10 points, Lauren Greig has eight points and Ashley Walker has seven points.

As a team, Cal shot 60 percent from the field and 75 percent (3-4) from behind the arc.

For Vaderbilt, there minds seem to be on their upcoming finals and not on this game.

The Comodores shot 24 percent from the field and went 3-14 (21 percent) on 3s.

Merideth Marsh leads the team with seven points, but she went 3-10 from the field (1-6 on 3-pointers).

Something to look for in the second half is Cal head caoch Joanne Boyle doesn't go to the bench often (only six players played in teh first half). So we will see if fatigue is a factor for the Bears in the second half.

Also, the Bears haven't beat a ranked opponent since they beat Stanford on Feb. 4 72-57. We'll see if the Commodores can keep that streak going, but as of now, it doesn't look likely.
