HOME STRETCH RUN

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - An Alexis Gray-Lawson three just made the score 47-45 Rutgers with 6:30 to play. Before that, it looked like Rutgers would be able to coast to victory paced by their strong D.

Give Cal a lot of credit. They are scrappy, they play tough and they have some excellent talent on the floor. A 100 percent healthy Devanei Hampton and I am not sure Rutgers would have a two-point lead right now.

Kia Vaughn has woken up offensively for Rutgers and now has a double-double to help the Knights gain back the lead after Cal had taken it shortly. With 6:00 to play, coach Stringer pulled Vaughn for a breather. One has to wonder if this isn't the wrong time, but Vaughn needs a bit of a rest anyway.

I must leave you and concentrate on this homestretch run from both teams, but will be back right as the game ends to update you on everything that transpired over the remaining 5:49.
