Revenge-minded Duke hosts Rutgers

DURHAM, N.C. -- The Cameron Crazies are still fairly subdued (and sparse) with tip-off from Cameron Indoor Stadium about 15 minutes away. Third-ranked Rutgers (5-1) enters Cameron on a roll, having won five straight -- including two victories against top 10 opponents. Meanwhile, Duke (5-3) stumbles into the matchup on a three-game losing streak as coach Joanne McCallie's first season has gotten off to a slow start.

DURHAM, N.C. -- The Cameron Crazies are still fairly subdued (and sparse) with tip-off from Cameron Indoor Stadium about 15 minutes away. Meanwhile, Duke (5-3) stumbles into the matchup on a three-game losing streak as coach Joanne McCallie's first season has gotten off to a slow start.

Rutgers and Duke faced off twice last year in a pair of games that couldn't have gone more different. The Blue Devils stomped the Scarlet Knights in the regular season by 40 points. But Rutgers extracted a large measure of revenge, knocking out the top-seeded Devils in particularly excruciating fashion. Duke star Lindsey Harding missed a pair of free throws with .1 seconds left as Rutgers escaped with a 53-52 victory en route to the National Championship game.

Expect a low-scoring affair between these two teams tonight. Neither squad averages 60 points per game and both hold their opponents to under 50 per game. If the Blue Devils want to halt their losing streak, they need to continue their dominance on the board. Duke is averaging a +12.2 rebounding margin, whereas Rutgers more or less breaks even on the glass.

If Epiphanny Price can duplicate her stellar performance from Rutgers' 68-60 victory over then-No.3 Maryland (22 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds) then the Knights will be in good shape to pick up their fourth straight win against a ranked opponent. Senior Essence Carson enters tonight averaging 12 points per game and stands 13 points shy of becoming the 26th Scarlet Knight to enter the 1,000-point club.
