Tar Heels Need More Of The Same

STORRS, Conn. -

We are at halftime at Gampel Pavilion in Storrs and the No. 3 North Carolina Tar Heels hold an 11-point 44-33 advantage.

Maybe Connecticut misses Mel Thomas more than some think. The senior is out for the season, along with Kalana Greene, with a torn ACL and the Huskies are feeling the affects.

For North Carolina, Latoya Pringle and junior guard Heather Claytor have 10 points apiece and UConn is led by junior point guard Renee Montgomery, who has 12.

The Huskies will need more of Montgomery and a lot more of Maya Moore, who has nine, if they hope to come back and pull this one out.

The second half should be a doozy and I'm just glad to be here for it.

Right now, the Tar Heels are proving that they are a better team than I have given them credit for and a worthy opponent for Maryland in the ACC.

The Huskies are obviously hurting because of their injuries, but if coach Geno Auriemma can find a way to get them on the same page at the half, this will be a different game.
