UNC wins double-OT thriller

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - It took longer than they would have hoped, but the Tar Heels got the big win they needed against ACC foe Maryland. Finally wearing down the Terps in overtime and depleting their frontcourt, North Carolina came away with a 97-86 win in double overtime.

LaToya Pringle had a huge rebound and layup with 1:50 to go to put UNC up 87-82. After a Maryland score, the Heels got the ball again and ran most of the shot clock before an Erlana Larkins layup made it 89-84 with 1:05 to go. Two more Pringle free throws forced the Terps to start fouling and sealed the game.
