Parker helps build halftime lead

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.- Candace Parker's knee is fine and the Lady Vols have built a 34-23 halftime lead over Rutgers. Parker has scored in almost every way early on as she has 17 points and seven rebounds at the half.

Rutgers was able to stay in the game early on, but their fouls kept building and the Lady Vols were able to take a double digit lead. Essence Carson leads Rutgers with nine points at the break.

After starting out hot from the field the Lady Vols have really cooled off and are only shooting 36 percent. Nicky Anosike, Aberte Auguste and Shannon Bobbitt are a combined 0-of-12 from the field. Luckily for Tennessee they are a perfect 12-of-12 from the free throw line.

At halftime the Tennessee basketball coaches helped raise money for breast cancer research by auctioning off their kisses in a fundraiser called "Kiss for a Cure." Men's basketball coach Bruce Pearl just sold a kiss for $2,000 and Pat Summitt's kiss just went for $4,000. The auction raised $9,500 for cancer research.
