SEC: Opening Up In Birmingham

By Doug Kroll - October 25, 2006

The SEC is billing itself as the "The Nation's Leader in Men's College Basketball." And I don't think that there are too many people will deny that. After sending six teams to the NCAA tournament a year ago, and coming minutes away from having an All-SEC Championship game, there isn't a league around that would shoot that concept down. We're about five minutes away from getting things started with SEC Commissioner Mike Slive, then a briefing from the supervisors of officials, and then the fun really starts. The first session will bring Alabama, Florida, and LSU into the main media room. Talk about a busy two hours that will be!! If you haven't seen the preseason All-SEC teams that were selected on Monday, here they are....

First Team All-SEC

F Jermareo Davidson- Alabama
G Ronald Steele- Alabama
F Corey Brewer- Florida
F/C Al Horford- Florida
F/C Joakim Noah- Florida
F Glen Davis- LSU
G Chris Lofton- Tennessee
G/F Chan Foster- Vanderbilt

Second Team All-SEC

F Richard Hendrix- Alabama
F Darian Townes- Arkansas
G Taurean Green- Florida
G Mike Mercer- Georgia
C Randolph Morris- Kentucky
F Tasmin Mitchell- LSU
G/F Jamont Gordon- Miss. State
F/C Charles Rhodes- Miss .State
G Tre' Kelley- South Carolina

I will have more throughout the morning and afternoon from the Marriott Birmingham!
