Alive and Kicking

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Our pre-game technical difficulties seem to have been alleviated and we're back in blogging business. Thanks for your patience.

Conte Forum, which holds 8,606, is about half-filled at this point with a traditionally late-arriving crowd. (It also happens to be a perfect Fall day in New England, whihc could keep a few folks away on this Holiday weekend.)

. . . The Rams have been off since a Nov. 19 win over Centenary at the Top of the World Classic in Fairbanks, Alaska. BC last played on Wednesday night in its disappointing loss at Providence.

. . . ESPN's Digger Phelps is three seats down from the Hang Time perch. No highlighters and no matching ties, as Phelps takes in the game with his sister and brother-in-law. Notre Dame allegiances aside, Phelps was chatted up in the pre-game by the amiable BC Athletic Director, Gene DeFilippo.

. . . BC's Sean Williams, who had a dozen blocks in Wednesday's loss, started off with a big rejection just 40 seconds into this one. He also scored the Eagles first four points, both on monster dunks. If Williams finds some offense, that will be a big boost to the Eagles.

. . . Rhody has started off with two straight threes and holds 10-6 lead at the first TV timeout, as BC opened in a two-three zone, but appears to have switched to a man-to-man. Rhody is averaging 86.4 points per game. The Rams are also going with the two-three zone on the defensive end. BC is averaging 71 points per game.
