Friartown Not Friendly to Eagles

By David Scott - November 22, 2006

PROVIDENCE - The Dunk has been rocking a bit this second half as Providence extended its lead to eight, midway through the stanza and has not looked back since. The lead now stands at 65-58 with 1:33 left in the game

PC continues to win the battle of the boards with about six more total rebounds than BC. The Eagles are also struggling from 3-point land, where they are 2-of-14 for 14 percent.

Coach Tim Welsh has been getting solid contribution up and down the line-up, with seven players having logged 13 minutes or more with just under four minutes left in the game.

PC’s Geoff McDermott has 18 points and 11 rebounds (nine in the first half) and Dudley continues to lead BC with 14 points. Sean Williams of BC has been credited with nine blocks (he had a career-high of nine against NC State last season).

. . . Welsh has gone back to the suit jacket; Al Skinner’s has remained out throughout.

. . . Up next for PC is a home date with George Washington on Sunday evening. BC hosts the “other” Rhode Island team, URI in a 2 p.m. tilt at Conte Forum, which Hang Time will be in da house for. Set your clocks and join us.

. . . We’ll hit you with a final score and then a post-press conferences/locker room access “columnette” on the game.
