Saturday Musings

Your humble narrator speaks:

  • Vegas, baby. Vegas. No. 1 Florida meets No. 10 Kansas in Sin City tonight (10:30 p.m. ET). Big barometer game for both teams.

  • It’s Oklahoma State-Missouri State in the title game of the South Padre Island Invitational, which is being broadcast this afternoon (12:30 p.m. ET) on CSTV. The Bears stunned seventh-ranked Wisconsin in the semifinals to reach today’s title game.

  • Hofstra (1-3) nabbed its first victory of the season: a 73-70 triumph over Marshall at the Great Alaska Shootout. The backcourt tandem of Antoine Agudio and Loren Stokes combined to score 49 points on 18-of-32 shooting.

  • And the hits just keep on coming: Rutgers (1-3) took a 29-point waxing on the road at the hands of Bradley. As mentioned in this forum previously, the Scarlet Knights will struggle to win a dozen games this season.

  • Brandon Worthy is working hard. In a double-overtime victory over Big West contender Pacific, the Loyola Marymount senior poured in 32 points on 10-of-16 shooting, adding four boards and six assists in 48 minutes.
