Spartans Stay Scrappy

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - MIchigan State had been keeping things close, but a surge by BC has put the Eagles ahead 41-32 with 11:48 left in the game.

Drew Neitzel's first field goal of the game came at 12:22 and out of the timeout called by Izzo. At the under 15:00 mark, Neitzel had come down on a fast break and missed an open 3-pointer that would have been huge for him and his team. On the other end, Dudley answered with a transition two (almost a three) to keep BC comofrtably ahead.

. . . Don't think Sean Williams only blocks shots inside the lane, he had a deflection on a 3-point attempt by Suton (with three seconds on the shot clock) that led to a 3-pointer by Jared Dudley that got the Conte Crowd to its noisiest level of the night. Dudley gave a bit of a shirt-pop to the fans opposite the benches and Conte rocked for the first time all season.

. . . Williams was, however, blocked on a stuff attempt in the first minute of the second half by Idong Ibok, in a great no-call and a great example of solid defense in the post. The next trip down, Williams left no doubt and went right over Ibok to give the Eagles a 10 point lead, 30-20.

. . . Little Tyrese Rice had a put back tip at 17:00 in the land of the giants, to put BC up 32-24.
