Tight One to Start

By David Scott - November 29, 2006

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - BC’s getting one shot and no more on the offensive end, as Michigan State pounds the boards on both ends of the floor. Still, the game is 8-8 at the second TV timeout, with 11:54 left in the first half.

. . . Michigan State’s sophomore center Idong Ibok picked up two early fouls (his second at 15:41), which should remove him from Izzo’s gameplan for the rest of the half. Big Red, junior center, Drew Naymick replaced Ibok.

. . . Sean Williams, BC’s blocking machine, had his first goal-tending of the night at 14:27 on a Morgan lay-up. He got his second of the night two minutes later on a lay-up by Goran Sutton. He then recorded his first block in the 12:00 minute area.

. . . Raymar Morgan scored the first six points for Michigan State. Senior co-captains Jared Dudley and Sean Marshall each had four for BC.

. . . The Eagles missed their first two 3-point attempts, continuing their woes form beyond the arc.

. . . BC’s the anti-Chicago Bulls, with four of five starters wearing white headbands. Michigan State has three green-head banded starters. Scott Skiles wouldn’t last a day in the college game.

. . . Give the BC fans credit - they get here late, but they do their best to make it for tip. By the second TV timeout, the place is almost be filled.

. . . BC’s always-classy Athletic Director, Gene DeFilippo, stopped at the Hang Time Perch to say hello. There are few ADs in the country better than DeFilippo.
