BU Hangs Tough

By David Scott - December 06, 2006

BOSTON - UMass continues to play in fits and starts as BU refuses to go away, but a good Minuteman spurt in the 6:00-area moved the lead back to 10, after it had been trimmed to 5. A key three by Minuteman Brandon Thomas was included in the run.

Now, with 2:17 left in the game, UMass leads 56-51 with the ball.

. . . The Minutemen continue to struggle from the line (14-for-25) and it’s a concern that Travis Ford will need to address - especially with games at Louisville and Kentucky looming for his team.

. . . UMass is outrebounding BU 37-25.

. . . BU is playing some inspired ball land won’t go away easily - good signs for the young Terriers as they gear up for America East play.

. . . Chants of “Lets Go Umass” filled the arena with just over five minutes to go - not a good sign for the home team.

. . .A wild series with 8:37 left in the game resulted in about four opportunities for UMass despite some dogged defense by the Terriers. It resulted in a foul on Stephane Lasme, who hit one of two from the line.

. . . The BU dance team adds a nice twist to their uniforms with each of the young ladies wearing a number. You can’t tell the dancers without a roster!
