Maryland Lingers

CHESNUT HILL, Mass. - Maryland has turned things up a notch in the second half, buckling down a bit more on the defensive end and disrupting passing lanes. Still, they trail 49-42 with 11:58 left in the game.

. . . Maryland started the second stanza on a 5-0 run to cut the BC lead to 38-34, but BC stormed right back and led 44-34 with 15:53 left in the game.

. . . Good call by John Cahill on the John Oates hanging-on-the-rim technical, following the center’s dunk with 15:00 left in the game. BC’s lead was 46-36 with the dunk, but two technical free throws and a Terp bucket later, the lead was just six.

. . . Bambale Osby has been impressive tonight for the Terps - he’s got a good body and some nice low post moves.

. . . Impressive quick costume change for the BC cheerleaders who went from a special dance-and-chair routine (in white tops and black pants), right back into the cheerleading unis, in the course of one media timeout.

. . . Gary Williams got into it a bit with referee Ted Valentine and Valentine urged the coach to calm down. Good luck, there.
