Tight One at The Ag

By David Scott - December 06, 2006

BOSTON - A back and forth affair sees the Terriers and the Minutemen tied 14-14 with 7:38 left in the half.

Through the early going, UMass has been dominating the boards, 12-9, but BU is shooting better from the field (43 percent to 36 percent).

BU’s freshman scoring leader, Corey Lowe, has grown by leaps and bounds in the six games since Hang Time last saw the Newton (Mass.) North product. His floor decisions are much better than we saw against George Washington (in his collegiate debut) and he appears quite comfortable in the Terrier system - despite two early turnovers.

. . . For a while there, we had an All-Lowe match-up as UMass’s Chris Lowe was guarding BU’s Corey Lowe at the point position. They are not related to our knowledge - Chris is from Mount Vernon, Corey form Boston.

Have we mentioned we have friends in low places?

. . . UMass’s free throw shooting woes - a concern of Travis Ford - are evident once again in this contest, missing several one and one opportunities in the early going (3-of-6 from the line).

. . . Tonight’s officials are Michael Stephens, John Hughes and John Gwynn.
