Halftime Observations

By David Scott - January 03, 2007

BOSTON - ODU controlled most of the first half, shooting 52.2 percent from the field and getting a huge 17 point performance from senior Valdas Vasylius (6-of-6 form the field.

Northeastern was led by 10 from senior guard Bobby Kelly, but Kelly's decision making at times was suspect. Adrian Martinez chipped in nine for NU, including 2-of-2 form 3-point land (both big momentum breakers). The Huskies shot 31 percent form the field in the half and took three more 3-pointers than the Monarchs, connecting on 4 of 12. ODU hit 3-of-9 from beyond the arc.

. . . ODU out-rebounded the Huskies 19-15 and was able to get deeper into its bench, playing ten (to eight for NU).

. . . In order for NU to erase its five point halftime deficit they will first need to find an answer for Vasylius and then will have to focus on getting leading-scorer, Bennet Davis (3 points, 3 perfonal fouls) into the flow of the game.

. . . Hang Time would like to thank Northeastern and Domino's pizza for providing halftime nurishment.

Now, if someone could throw another log on the fire, perhaps we'd be able to warm-up inside the chilly Matthews Arena.
