Duke Up Big at Half

By David Scott - February 14, 2007

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – A spirited first half saw Duke pull away a bit in the second part of the half and built a 43-32 lead with under a minute left. Turnovers and fouls contributed to the BC deficit, as did the play of Josh McRoberts who finished the half with 12 points.

Jared Dudley was whistled for his third personal foul (on a block) with 1:03 left in the half and was immediately removed from the line-up. He has been a non-factor in the first 20 minutes of the game. In fact, without, Tyrese Rice’s 13 points, the Eagles would be in a whole lot worse shape.

BC is 3-5 when trailing at the half.

. . . The officials received a loud round of boos as they exited the floor.

. . . Russert’s first outburst that we saw came when he contested an offensive charging call against Tyrese Rice, where Russert was looking for the hoop to count. He repeated the gesture for ‘and-one’ several times, but to no avail.

. . . We'll be back with halftime stats and observations.
