Eagles Bombing Away

By David Scott - February 03, 2007

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Eagles have played inspired ball in the games first 12 minutes, led by a spirited, crowd-encouraging, Jared Dudley, who is leading BC with 14 points. The Eagles hold a 31-14 lead at the under-8:00 media timeout. They are 12 of 22 form the field and 4 of 9 form 3-point land.

Zabian Dowdell has seven points for the Hokies, who appear unsettled and a step slow - including back-to-back possessions with awful turnovers on errant passes. The Hokies have six turnovers in the early going and haven‘t had a field goal in almost four minutes.

BC is out-rebounding the Hokies, 12-5, early on.

. . . BC freshman Shamari Spears, who started his eighth game of the season today, has done a lot of growing up over the course of his first 20 games for the Eagles. A bit undersized (at 6-foot-6), Spears uses his weight (245 pounds) effectively and has given Al Skinner just about all he could ask for from a first year player - 8.6 pppg in 24.6 mpg. He has four points in the early going today.
