Halftime Stats and Observations

By David Scott - February 17, 2007

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – This one is almost a carbon copy of BC’s struggle with Duke from Wednesday night. In that game, BC trailed by 11 at the break, tonight they trail by just six, despite being out-rebounded 17-8.

Both teams shot the ball well with UNC hitting on 53 percent (17 of 32 and 3 of 7 from 3-pointy land) and BC connecting on 59 percent (13 of 22, 5 of 8).

. . . BC is once again running into a depth problem - accentuated by the absence of dismissed players, Sean Williams and Akida McLain. UNC used 12 players, BC used eight and while bench scoring was just 10-7 in favor of the Tar Heels, the fact that fresh bodies can be rotated in will surely become a factor.

. . . Leading scorers at the break are Hansborough for UNC with 13 and Rice for BC with 12. Wayne Ellington had four assists in the first half.
