A-10: Not So Easy

By Matthew Shapiro - March 07, 2007

ATLANTIC CITY - Fordham is the highest seeded team playing today, and was supposed to roll over Richmond, a team who starts three freshmen and lost to the two A-10 teams who didn't even qualify for the tournament. Right now, Fordham is far from rolling, down 22-19.

One interesting thing about a less-than-packed stadium is that much of what the coaches say can be heard by everyone in the building. After one of his Spiders grabbed a rebound and looked to run, Richmond coach Chris Mooney screamed "Calm, Calm, Calm!" His player heard him and immediately stopped to prepare an offensive set. We all know why that player slowed down.

The building is getting more and more occupied as the afternoon moves on, yet neither team seems to have too much of a "home-court" advantage. It's surprising to me that Fordham doesn't have the louder crowd out of simple proximity to the event.
