A-10: Sticks

By Matthew Shapiro - March 07, 2007

ATLANTIC CITY - One of the cool things about sitting so close to the crowd is hearing all their funny cheers, words for the refs and nicknames for the players. Well, every time Duquesne's Robert Mitchell touches the ball, the crowd screams "Come on, Sticks!"

I didn't really know what they were talking about the first couple of times because my head was down typing. But when I looked up, I realized what they were talking about. Mitchell has the skinniest arms and legs this side of me, and his nickname certainly fits. It almost looks like he's playing dress up in Shaq's uniform.

But Mitchell doesn't play weak, and that could be seen when he grabbed three offensive rebounds in a row and was eventually fouled in traffic under the rim.

Sticks and the Dukes are fighting to stay in the game, but right now trail 75-71 with 3:33 left.
