A-10: The Minuteman

By Matthew Shapiro - March 08, 2007

ATLANTIC CITY - We're back in Boardwalk Hall for the evening session of the A-10 tournament quarterfinals, where the No. 2 seed Massachusetts Minutemen (23-7, 13-3) are set to take on the No. 7 seed St. Louis Billikens.

St. Louis is coming off a 78-77 win over Duquesne yesterday, while UMass had the day off after earning a first-round bye.

Right now, the crowd is pretty thin, probably one of the smallest of the tournament so far. We'll see if that changes as the night goes on. While I can't be sure about how the crowd will turn out, I'm sure of this: the UMass mascot is the scariest mascot I have ever seen. He's about seven feet tall, and has a permanent smile sewn onto his face. Not sure what it is about him that's so scary but- wait a sec, maybe it's the fact that he's seven feet tall and has a permanent smile sewn onto his face. He's like a creppier version of the Burger King from the commercials.
