ACC: Hokies Knocking

By - March 10, 2007

Virginia Tech's Lewis Witcher deposited a lay-up at the 14:55 mark which knotted the score at 35-35 -- pulling the Hokies out of the hole for the first time in an entire half. But Bryan Nieman's three-pointer put State back ahead and the 'Pack has taken a 40-38 lead into the 12-minute TV timeout (after leading by as many as 11 points during the first half).

Meanwhile, the Virginia Tech pep band is playing the "Hokie Pokey" while the cheerleaders are doing the dance at center court -- drawing a crescendo of boos and cat-calls that is drawing a reaction from the dancers as the song ends. Indeed, Tobacco Road xenophobia is infectious.
