Big Ten: Tied Up

By Phil Kasiecki - March 08, 2007

CHICAGO - There's still not much scoring as we reach the last media timeout of the first half. Minnesota took a 30-second timeout with under five to play, and it seemed to work as they got a basket from Spencer Tollackson right after it, then forced a turnover and got a jumper from Lawrence McKenzie to tie it at 16 and force a 30-second timeout by the Wolverines. The game is still tied at 16 with free throws to come for Michigan.

  • Michigan sophomore point guard Jerret Smith, the only underclassman the Wolverines start, seems quite fond of jump passes on the go, which surely gets him into trouble from time to time.
  • Each team has two starters with two fouls each.
  • Michigan coach Tommy Amaker apparently didn't have much to say to his team, as they broke out of their timeout huddle quickly and were all at the foul line a good 15 seconds before the timeout was over.
  • We'll be back at halftime with some notable stats.
