Big XII: Post-Game from the Pokes

By Jean Neuberger - March 09, 2007

Now THAT was a basketball game!

OSU, riding a newfound wave of confidence and a huge fan base that cheered them on like crazy, pulled the first major upset of the Big XII Tournament, beating Texas A&M 57-56 on a lay-up by Mario Boggan with 11.6 seconds left. Here's some of the quotes from after the game.

Coach Sean Sutton complimented the toughness of his team, as well as executing the game plan: stop Acie Law.

"We talked about it in the shootaround, we talked about it at breakfast, we talked about it at the start of this game. We did not want Acie Law to beat us," said Sutton.

Boggan mentioned the defensive pressure on Law, as well as the final shot.

"We played intense defense on Law," he said. "We tried as hard as we could, especially in those last minutes, not to let him score. As for the last shot, Coach set up a great play. He just asked me to go inside. HARD. And that's what I did."

Most of the credit for the pressure on Law goes to JamesOn Curry, who shut him out in the last nine minutes of the game.

"JamesOn stepped up to the challenge tonight," said Sutton.

And so did his teammates, who advance to the semifinals to play either Baylor or Texas.

"We were like a wounded animal," said OSU's David Monds. "We came in there backed in a corner and ready to fight."
