Big XII: Quotes From Post-Game

By Jean Neuberger - March 11, 2007

Post-game was delayed, as everyone stopped to watch the Selection Show here at the Ford Center. The KU press conference was then held after the show was finished.

Here are some post-game quotes following the selection show and game....

"We're not too estatic right now about getting the #1 seed. We will be, but we're worn down right now." - KU Coach Bill Self, following the selection show.

"Our confidence level is pretty high right now. We're just making plays at the right time. That's all I can say." - KU guard Brandon Rush

"I don't want to play him (Durant) ever again. He's the best I have ever seen." - Self, on the play of Texas forward Kevin Durant.

"Every coach in our league would say we don't like it. If you were watching that today, you're watching A&M at Texas or Texas-Oklahoma State..or the last Texas-KU game...you would think, God, are there that many good teams. K-State's resume was every bit as impressive and deserved to get in." - Self, on KSU being denied a NCAA bid.

"I'll say this about our league: Best player in the country plays in it, most fun player to watch plays in it, must clutch player in the country plays in it. The coach that just won his 880th game coaches in it. And you had about four epic games that were as good as any game played all year in any league." - Self on the Big XII

"It was a great tournament that made the Big XII look really good. It was classy...you didn't see any UNC/Duke cheap shots going on here. You can't say enough about Kevin Durant and how he played." - Big XII Tournament Volunteer Amy Leis

"The Big XII is falling on some rough times in basketball. We're not getting enough teams further into the tournament. We're falling on a little rough times in football too." - Leis, on the Big XII getting four teams in the NCAA Tournament.

"Texas played their tails off, Chalmers came up big for us. Man, what a game that was." - KU Superfan Joe Wheeler

"I'm proud of our guys. I thought a lot of good things happened this week. We're disappointed but it is over and done with and we will move on to next week." - Texas Coach Rick Barnes after the game.
