Buffalo: A Relative Track Meet

By David Scott - March 15, 2007

Things have picked up a bit here with ODU now leading 27-24 with 15:04 left in the game. The teams have combined for 12 points in five minutes, an encouraging sign. AJ Graves of Butler leads all scorers with 11 points.

. . . This site's Tournament Director and the MAAC Commissioner, Rich Ensor, just stopped by the Hang Time perch and we had a nice chat. He said this game reminded him a bit of some MAAC contests - nip and tuck with good defense and some dysfunctional shooting (I added that last part). Ensor is one of the true good guys in the business and has always been quite kind to us. he even experimented with us a sideline reporter for the conefernec during one season long ago. Ratings dipped during those contests and I was never asked back. But they did let me ref a MAACscot basketball game, still the highlight of my professional career.

Ensor needs to head to Hartford tomorrow for the Women's Tournament, as he is on the Women's selection committee. I think he said, "You're in charge," to me when he left courtside.

If so, there will beer in the house beginning now (NCAA rules prohibit the sale of alcohol to the general seating public, although suite sitters are allowed to consume.)
