Buffalo: Between Day Interviews

By David Scott - March 16, 2007

BUFFALO - Welcome back to the comfy confines of the HSBC Arena where the off-day interview sessions are scheduled to begin in just a few minutes.

Unfortunately, with practices closed to the public and media types, we're not able to be courstide (as far as we know, we're still efforting to sneak in). So we're coming to you from the press room where instead of giving you updates on who is dunking on whom in practice, we can alert you to which media member is eating themost free popcorn (I'm neck and neck with the estimable Sean Brennan of the NY Daily News at this point).

The rundown of who will be available when is after the jump, as is a link to a very interesting "thoughts" column from the mothership's website's Gary Parrish.

Interviews in Buffalo:

1:35 -2:15 p.m. - Maryland players then coach Gary Williams

2:15 - 2:55 p.m. - Butler players and then coach todd Lickliter

3:10 - 3:50 p.m. - VCU players and then coach Anthony Grant

3:50 - 4:30 p.m. - Pittsburgh players and then coach Jamie Dixon

The "story" of the day will be VCU, but we'll try and grab tidbits from everything for you and report back periodically.

. . . The "Thoughts" column of which we speak is here and it lists some rising assistant coaches from across the country highlighted by Hang Time's favorite Tony Chiles of Drexel. The other intriguing name on the list is Memphis assistant Derek Kellogg, who is ready for his own program the way Tony Barbee (UTEP) was last year off of John Calipari's staff.

One omission that we'd like to add in is Mike Hopkins at Syracuse. He's already been mentioned for the St. Bonaventure job and his name should get thrown in the mix for some west coast spots as well. "Hop" is well overdue for his own program as well.
