CAA: Continental Gets Us Here

By David Scott - March 03, 2007

RICHMOND - We're still dumbfounded as to how Continental airlines forget to get a crew for our 9:50 flight, but we did take off promptly at 11 a.m. and the result is an arrival at halftime of the day's first game, where VCU leads 43-33 at the break.

VCU has played 10 bodies and all but one have scored, led by eight points off the bench from Jamal Shuler and seven apeice from Michael Anderson and Jesse Pellot-Rose. Leonard Mendez led Georgia State with 11 points.

Georgia State led the battle of the boards, 19-16, but VCU shot 4 of 5 from 3-point land and caused 10 turnovers while only giving the rock up four times. VCU turned those 10 tunrs into 14 points and the Ram bench outscored the Panthers 14-5.

VCU's biggest lead of the half was 16.

. . . We're just getting settled into the ancient Richmond Coliseum and a good crowd is on hand for the home-city VCU Rams. Two wide screens - one in each end zone - show all the game action and an midcourt scoreboard hangs over the court.
