CAA: Garbage Time All the Time

By David Scott - March 03, 2007

RICHMOND - The only question remaining from the Coliseum at this point is whether the 12-year-old with the sign gets a call from any of the Drexel cheerleaders (not the guy, of course). Otherwise, it's strictly clock-milking time for Bruiser Flint, who is going to try and rest some guys for tomorrow's monster re-match with VCU.

The Dragons lead 54-36 and Northeastern took over 11 minutes of the second stanza to reach the 35 points that Drexel had at half. There is now 6:58 left in the game.

. . . The job that Bill Coen did in getting his Huskies to nine wins (plus a tourney victory) in conference is simply remarkable, but this is clearly the end of the road fot he 2006-07 NU squad. Coen has a good foundation in place for next year and he will use this season to build on, for sure.

Today, they have simply run into a better, more experienced, more focused Drexel team.

. . . Tonight's games from the Coliseum tip off at 6 p.m. when No. 2 seed Old Dominion faces No. 7 seed Towson and then, in the nightcap, No. 3 Hofstra squares off against No. 6 George Mason in what should be the highlight game of the day in the CAA.

. . . We'll work the post-game, grab some fuel for the fire and be back with you a little bit after 5:30 p.m.
