CAA: Halftime Stats and Observations

By David Scott - March 03, 2007

RICHMOND - Complete and thorough domination by Mason Nation in the firts half is the only way to encapsulate what the stat sheet tells us.

Mason out-rebounded Hofstra 23-11; out-shot them 52 percent to 30 percent; out-scored them in the paint 16-4 and had 10 seocnd chance points to zero for the Pride.

. . . Folarin Campbell led the Patriots with 12 points and Dre Smith added 11. For Hofstra, Carlos Rivera had 15 points (all on 3s) and Antoine Aguido had six (two 3s).

. . . Like in our first game of the night session, we'll have to figure that Hofstra can't possible shoot any worse in the second half (six of their eight field goals were 3s, otherwise this would be a bigger blowout).

. . . The Coliseum PA system played the hallowed "One Shining Moment" song during halftime and we have to say that the song should never be played except for on the final night of the season. It's that sacred in our book. And we know the song's writer, David Barrett, would agree. You don't just throw it out at random times. What's wrong with these people?

. . . Mason's largest lead is the 15 they open the half with, Hofstra's biggest bulge was two points.
