CAA: Mason Hangs On; Cinderella Lives

By David Scott - March 03, 2007

RICHMOND - Not exactly a textbook way to close out the game, but Mason has held on for a 64-61 upset of the No. 3 seed Hofstra.

A bizarre finish saw Hofstra's Greg Johnson drive down the court with time winding down and the Patriots up by three. Instead of taking a 3-pointer or looking for a teammate to launch one, Johsnon drove to the basket as time expired. Another case of a player not knowing time and score.

Regardles, Mason's fans are celebrating quite heartily and the dream lives on.

We'll work the post-game interviews but that's it for the night from here. We'll plan on checking back in on Sunday before we start up with the semifinals in the 2 p.m. hour.

For now, we leave you in the capable hands of Lindsay Schnell and the WCC Tournament. Enjoy and drive safely. . .
