CAA: Tight One to Start

By David Scott - March 04, 2007

RICHMOND - B.A. Walker has started out with VCU's first six points, all on 3-pointers. He entered the game with 84 on the season, the second-highest single-season total in school history.

The game is tied 6-6 with 15:21 left in the half.

Some sloppy play early with a ragged pace and several early turnovers on both sides. The emotion is absoultely tremendous as Bruiser Flint is jumping all over the Dragon sidelines. This one really feels like a meaningful March game and we're only four minutes-plus into it.

. . .An early delay for some clock issues allowed the PA system to play the "Boom, boom let me hear you say, Hey Ho" song, to which the energetic crowd gladly responded with a "Hey Ho."

. . . We keep forgetting to mention that VCU's head of basketball operations is Brett Nelson, the former Florida Gator. It was Nelson, if we're not mistaken, that had a very attractive girlfriend (maybe a Playboy model, if we recall correctly) who Dick Vitale was infatuate with for one Gator game in particular.

. . . Pav's best early sign so far: "What's a Chaz?" referring to Drexel's Chaz Crawford. Crawford, if he would borrow Flint's Dry Erase board could reply, "What's a Pav?"

Pav appears to have a new Dry-Erase board - no more wooden border as yesterday's had.
