CAA: "We Hunt Dragons"

By David Scott - March 04, 2007

RICHMOND - A late-game succession of fouls and foul-line trips ensued as Drexel attempted to lengthen the game. BUt VCU converted its free throws and the end-of-game management by Anthony Grant was outstanding as the Rams advance to the title game with a well-earned 64-56 win over Drexel.

. . . VCU fans started chanting "NIT, NIT" with 39.6 seconds left, but we still believe Drexel is deserving of an at-large bid to the NCAAs, especially if Mason can pull the upset in the night cap and VCU wins the championship. If Mason or ODU wins the title then all bets are off and Drexel could be shut out.

. . .We'll work the post-game interviews and get back with you for the tip of Mason and ODU. More iced tea is on the way as well.

. . . Pav's late game sign was, "We Hunt Dragons," which he got the VCU student section chanting heartily. VCU cheerleaders breifly held up a rebuttal sign to the Drexel student section that read: "Your signs suck." That's not very sportsmanlike, but apparently the NASCAR sign cut deep.

. . . Pav's late game sign: "Elegar or No Elegar - It doens't matter." True enough. Pav speaks the truth. he followed that up with "VCU, See you Monday Night; Drexel, 95N"

. . . Another student section sign from VCU: "Tickets to the CAA: $15, Hot dog and drink: $6.50, Slaying a Dragon: Priceless."

. . . Bruiser Flint and Anthony Grant shared a nice post-game hug at midcourt.
