Meadowlands: Halftime Stats and Observations

By David Scott - March 23, 2007

This one is a bit of a shocker at the half although the stats are trending to a second half comeback for the Hoyas, who trailed 30-26 at the half of their last game against BC before oustcoring the Eagles 36-25 in the second half. In that game, Hibbert scored 15 of his 17 in the second half. He has three at the break tonight.

. . . Vandy has an incredible 11 assists on its 12 field goals as bothe Derrick Byars and Dan Cage have four each.

. . . The Hoyas bench has kept them in the game with 10 total bench points to zero for the 'Dores with the Hoyas' leading scorer Ewing, Jr. (seven) and Tyler Crawford accounting (three) for the reserves scoring.

. . . Georgetown has been to the line ten times, hitting six and Vandy is 2 of 4 from the charity stripe. From the field, the Hoyas are 8 of 24 (33 percent) and 2 of 9 from 3-point land. Vandy is 12 of 26 and 6 of 15 from beyond the arc.

. . . The Hoyas have seven turnovers to only two for Vandy.

. . . Dan Cage of Vandy leads all scorers with 11 points and a team-high five rebounnds. He is 3 of 6 from 3-point land.

. . . The key for Georgetown in the second half will be getting Hibbert involved more and Vandy is going to need to continue to share the ball and hit its 3-pointers.

. . .We've now confirmed that all the courts for the Round of 16 are the same, a nice touch by the NCAA to give some uniformity to the Sweet 16 sites.
