MVC: Creighton cruises

By Jerry Palm - March 02, 2007

I said before the game that Creighton had to play like something was on the line, and they did just that, winning 59-38. Even though the Bluejays' shots weren't falling early, they played hard wire to wire, and the shots did eventually fall. Creighton is going to need another effort like this tomorrow to win the semifinal, and that may be the game that decides whether or not they can get an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament.

After starting the year 10-4, including wins over Butler and Purdue, Indiana St finished 12-18. If they can regain their early season form again next year, they have a chance to make some noise in this league. Only one senior, Wurtz, played any significant minutes for the Sycamores.

This was just short of the largest margin of victory for the Bluejays this season against a Valley opponent. The high was a 23-point win over Drake.
