MVC: Indiana St-Creighton preview

By Jerry Palm - March 02, 2007

Creighton is a team with legitimate NCAA tournament hopes, and those hopes ride on their performance in this tournament. They have played poorly down the stretch in person, including the two times I saw them. I saw the second half of the home loss to Drexel on TV and they looked slow and a little flat. Against Illinois St, which I saw in person, they lacked the sense of urgency a team playing for a spot in the NCAA tournament should have. That's what I'm looking for from Creighton tonight - urgency, desperation, a desire to play in the NCAA tournament. That may not translate to a win (you can play hard and not shoot well), but it better, because they can't afford to lose.

Indiana St won for only the second time in 15 games last night. IN the second half, htey were able to get some good looks at three point shots and hit a bunch. For Creighton, the key will be closing out on those guys. If that happens, this should be an easy win for the Bluejays.

For this game, I'm behind the ISU bench and the always entertaining Royce Waltman.
