MVC: SIU off to good start

By Jerry Palm - March 02, 2007

With the exception of some sloppy ball handling, Southern Illinois is off to a pretty good start. Randal Falker has already scored in the post, Jamaal Tatum hit his first shot, and Matt Shaw has a three pointer. They have a couple of turnovers though on bad passes. On one, Tony Young penetrated and tried to kick it out across court, but threw it into the stands. Coach Chris Lowery was really biting his tongue on that one.

On defense, the Salukis have their defense extended pretty far. Klayton Korver has a three and is going to shoot three free throws after the time out because Falker fouled him behind the line. Drake has gotten the ball deep a couple of times, but SIU nudges them towards the baseline so they can't do anything with it.

9-3 SIU at the first timeout.
