SEC: Gators (SURPRISE!) Win

By David Scott - March 09, 2007

In a game that was over after the first media timeout, Florida has capped this one off with a 74-57 win.

Corey Brewer finished with 15 points, Taurean Green with 19 and Al Horford with 15 to lead the Gators. Billy Humphrey (10) and Takais Brown (12) led the Dawgs.

Georgia will finish shooting 34 percent (24 of 71) for the game and Florida was at 54 percent (23 of 43). Georgia did win the battle of the boards with 38 to Florida's 32.

The Gators will now await the winner of LSU and Ole Miss which tips in 30 minutes.

. . . Florida AD Jeremy Foley moved into the row of seats where Big Baby had been sitting in order to watch the end of the game and, presumably, congratulate his team and his coach as they walk off the floor.

. . . We'll give you the game notes sites now so that we can listen in on Billy Donovan and his players as they explain how hard it was to maintain a level of intensity for a game that was over before it started.

LSU game notes are here and the Ole Miss notes are here.

The game is vital for both teams if they want to hear their names called on Sunday, as LSU needs to win the Tournament to get in and Ole Miss needs some help as well, having played a very soft non-conference schedule. The desparation should lead to a nice capper for our eighth game in two days.

And if doesn't, we'll go find Bubba Hog at whatever watering hole he's face down in and run up his bar tab.
