SEC: Georgia and Auburn Tip in 30

By David Scott - March 08, 2007

We are about 30 minutes from the start of the night time session here at the Georgia Dome with a battle of 17-win teams - No. 5 seed (East) Georgia (17-12) and No. 4 seed (West) Auburn (17-14).

The two teams met 19 days ago in Athens in their only regular seaosn meeting with the Bulldogs holding off the Tigers 86-79 in a game that had 60 (!!!) fouls called, including three technicals with five Auburn players fouling out and 70 total free throws attempted.

. . . Amazingly, this is the 171st meeting between the two schools and the series is dead even at 85-85. They've also met six times in the SEC Tournament and split those half dozen meetings as well. In 1979, they played the longest game in SEC Tourney history - a four OT, second round game won by Auburn, 95-91.

. . .To get you started, Georgia game notes are here; with Auburn notes here.

. . . Tonight's referees for the first contest will be crew chief Mike Stuart, Tom Eades and Anthony Jordan with Tim Clougherty serving as the substitue.

. . . Projected starting line-ups are as follows:
For Georgia, Takais Brown, Steve Newman, Sundiata Gaines, Levi Stukes and Billy Humphrey.
For Auburn, Josh Dollard, Korvotney Barber, Frank Tolbert, DeWayne Reed and Quantez Robertson.

. . . The Bulldogs wear a patch on their uniforms with the No. 3 and the words "Do it for Broph" to honor Kevin Brophy who died in an autmobile accident on July 20, 2006.
