SEC: Two from Tip

By David Scott - March 10, 2007

We're a couple of minutes from tip of what some are calling an NCAA Tournament "play-in" game. The Dome is filling in and the State fans and Arkansas fans seem pretty evenly dispersed with State holding an edge in overall quantity and loudness.

. . . Today's game features the SEC's two leading shot-blocking teams as Arkansas has 203 and State has 194 on the season.

. . . Arkansas leads the all-time series with state, 24-18 and the teams split during the regular season. State has won six of the last eight head-to-head. The teams have met in the SEC Tourney just once before in 1989 when Arkansas won, 84-79 in overtime, here in Atlanta.

. . . Some really disappointing news from the media feed spread where we were flagged for trying to bring our iced tea onto the elevator. As you know, we've been doing the iced tea all week long and transporting it on the 'vator. Evidently a new rule went into effect after some spilling issues on the elevator yesterday. Once again an incompetent few ruin it for the rest of us.

I'm on water instead, from the floor level media snack room. The good news is there was a random bag of Golden Flake Dill Pickle chips that we have snagged for our halftime snack. We left several bags of Neubie's favorite barbecue chips, figuring they would be available later.
