SEC: Welcome to Cat-Lanta

ATLANTA - Good afternoon and welcome to the Georgia Dome, site of both the SEC Tournament and, three weeks hence, the Final Four.

Our first game, scheduled for a 1 p.m. (EST) tip features two 20-10 clubs in No. 4 seed Kentucky and No. 5 seed Alabama. 'Bama won the teams' lone meeting this season at home, 72-61. Kentucky is 95-35 all-time against the Crimson Tide and 10-2 in SEC Tournament play. UK knocked out the Tide in the quarterfinals last year in Nashville.

While checking in to our palacial digs at the Spring Street Days Inn we were quickly overcome by a preponderance of Kentucky blue. Wow do these folks travel well.

They've also owned the SEC tournament whenever it's been played in Atlanta, winning the 1995, 1998, 1999 and 2004 SEC Tourneys in this building and holding an 18-3 all-time mark in the Dome.

. . . Some early sound system problems have been encountered during the playing of "It's a Beautiful Day." Not so much on the ears. A loud hum and static has many in the arena blkcing their ears. It sounds like a giant snow plow trying to clear some two feet of snow off a frozen road. or something like that.

A few fans cheered when the sound dissipated to a low hum.

. . . We started off our beverage day with a Dr. Pepper, and for those of you who were with us for the CAA Tourney from Richmond, you know that the Doc makes us a little loopy. We're onto our second drink of the day and have secured form iced tea (with lemon and two sugars) from the fine spread provided by the good folks of the SEC.
