SEC: Welcome to Selection Sunday at the SEC

By David Scott - March 11, 2007

ATLANTA - Welcome back for the final day of the SEC Tournament at the Georgia Dome where 28-5 Florida and 21-12 Arkansas tip off in 45 minutes. Both teams took the court for light shooting and stretching with 60:00 on the pre-game clock and the Gators came out to a louder ovation, mostly from the student section in the far endzone.

The Gators returned to the locker room about ten minutes later with Corey Brewer and Joakim Noah being the last Gators to leave the court. Noah hit his ten foot jumper to exit, Brewer missed his 12-footer.

. . . The Vegas wiseguys have installed the Gators as between an 8.5 and 9 point favorite. We don't encourage gambling in any way, but we do know some of you are interested in such things.

. . . Florida game notes are here. And Arkansas' official basketball page is here.

. . . In a bit of a surprise, "TV" Teddy Valentine, who has been here all Tourney long will not officiate today's game, instead crew chief Tony Greene, Mike Stuart, Doug Sirmons and substitute Mike Nance get the duties. TV must have found a higher profile game, perhaps the Big Ten which leads into the the pre-Selection show on mothership CBS.

. . .Speaking of the mothership, all-time great "With a kiss" Bill Raftery stopped by the Hang Time perch to say hello in his freshly pressed blue CBS blazer. Raftery does color on this one with long-time CBS partner Verne Lundquist. Raftery is fine fiddle this time of year and, like many teams, is awaiting word on where he will be placed for the first and second rounds. He ventured a guess that he might get Buffalo.
