Winston-Salem: Backfiring

By Matt Meyers - March 15, 2007

Al Skinner inserted Jared Dudley back into the game with three minutes left in the half and the move quickly backfired as the ACC player of the year picked up his third foul trying to draw a charge on Martin Zeno.

Dudley has long been known for ability to draw fouls, but the officials are not buying it today. His first foul was a charge and then he picked up two more trying to draw charges. Fortunately, Tyrese Rice and John Oates are picking up the slack.

With a putback right before the halftime hore, Oates now has 11 points thanks to three three-pointers, all from the left wing and BC leads 41-39 after 20 minutes.

Texas Tech took a brief lead at 37-36 and was given a boost from Zeno, who began to purcolate late in the half. He has 10 points, as does partner in crime Jarrius Jackson, and the duo are well on their way to at least matching the 37 points they have been good for all season.

The question for Skinner in the second half will be how aggressive he chooses to be with Dudley and his three fouls.
