Dad Says Oden's Going Pro

By - April 14, 2007

Throughout his brief collegiate career, All-American center Greg Oden has remained very guarded on his NBA plans.

All season long, the Indianapolis native deferred questions on the subject to the end of the year.

But Oden's father told the Indianapolis Star on Friday that the 7-foot, 280-pound center will leave Ohio State to enter the NBA Draft. The junior Oden is widely projected to be the top overall selection.

"They had an exciting season," Greg Oden, Sr., said, "but why take the chance on him getting hurt?"

The Star story also reports that classmates Mike Conley, Jr., and Daequan Cook will join Oden in the June 28 player draft.
