Pan Am Trials: Midway Through Session Two

By David Scott - July 13, 2007

HAVERFORD, Pa. -- We're at the midway point of the second session and wth much of the morning drilling and scrimmaging complete, we've now got 10 minute, full-court games underway on the main court. At the far end of the gym, a group of about ten players is being run through drills with Jay Wright.

Some early observations from a stroll around the gym:

* Brian Butch of Wisconsin appears to have limited catching ability. That's a nice way of saying he has no hands. But he does have 6 feet and 11 inches of size, not one inch of which will be visiting Rio this summer.

* Michigan State's Drew Neitzel has been impressive on both ends of the floor during drills and scrimmages.

* Vanderbilt's Shan Foster has displayed nice touch.

* Alabama's Alonzo Gee is leading the camp in sprinting to stations - whether they be water or midcourt meetings, Gee is always hustling. That counts for a lot in these kind of camps.

* 'Bama's Richard Hendrix is an absolute bull.

* Camp attendees are wearing Nike sneakers that are white and blue with a white Swoosh. Just thought you' dlike to know.

Back to some earnest watching. See you soon.
