Atlantic 10 Appears To Be Wide Open

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -- Preseason polls are often deceiving.

This could hold especially true in the Atlantic-10 in 2007-08. That's one topic the participants discussed at length during Media Day.

"This is such a tough league," Xavier coach Sean Miller said. "Every game is a battle. The teams are so evenly matched."

Saint Joseph's forward Ahmad Nivins agreed with that assessment.

"Yeah, the games are hard-fought, and the road games are hard to wijn," Nivins said. "The fans are into it and you have keep your poise."

It likely will be a terrific season with so many improved teams in this league.

"You have to go and take wins because nothing is given to you," Temple coach Fran Dunphy said. "You have to bring energy every night. If you don't, you'll get beat. There's too much talent all around."

Does the parity make it more fun?

"I don't know how you define fun," Dunphy said. "I think it's challenging and it's rewarding if you win. With so many good teams, you have to be at your best and I think that brings out the good in this league."
