Bill Self Presser

By David Scott - October 17, 2007

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas coach Bill Self just finished up his press conference, which he started off by saying: "It's too early to be doing this."

We couldn't agree more.

Some highlights from Self (not to be confused with Myself, who has no highlights)...

On the success of No. 15 Kansas football (6-0) and coach Mark Mangino:
"I'm very excited for this year and it's a great time for the school with football doing so well. Nothing adds to the energy and excitement of a school year than having a football that is doing well."

On "competing" with football for attention:
"I love (Mangino's) response to that. He said, 'I don't think they're on our schedule this year.'"

On Brandon Rush and his expected return:
"Dec. 1 has been the timetable, that will be six months from the day of surgery. I think being without him for a while should make us a better team."

Self said Rush will need to hit some goals before being allowed to go full throttle.
