Identity Crisis At USC?

By Jason Owens - October 12, 2007

LOS ANGELES -- So is USC a basketball school now? After raining boos down on the L.A. Coliseum following the football team's shocking loss to Stanford last week, the Trojan faithful are surely ready for some good news.

They'll get a taste tonight when second -- make that first at USC -- coming O.J. Mayo makes his official debut in a Trojan uniform at Midnight Madness. It's scheduled to tip off at 9 p.m. PT and thanks to a sweep over Oregon from the USC volleyball team, things should get started close to on time.

A few big-time prospects and Demar Derozen, the consensus top-ranked small forward for the class of 2008 and a USC commit, are scheduled to be in the stands tonight to watch the Trojan hoops team begin its quest to build off of last year's Sweet 16 appearance. Oh, and perhaps best of all, Percy Miller, aka Lil' Romeo, is in the house tonight as well. That's right, Tim Floyd has reportedly signed Master P's son to play during the 2008 season.

The lower deck of the gleaming Galen Center, freshly equipped with cool new red scrolling lights in the ceiling, is starting to fill up and the Song Girls just took the floor. Things should get underway soon. I'll check back in when the party officially gets started.
